How To Stand Out In A World That Has Seen It All
Updated: Jan 10
Over 3.4 billion people use social media worldwide, that is 45% of the total population. Instagram, Facebook & Co. are gaining prominence by the day while “opinion leaders” and “influencers” are springing up like mushrooms.
Through these channels, it's easier than ever to create and present yourself with an aspired image.
If this image is “real” and self-chosen? I often doubt it.
Because uniqueness is becoming rare. It seems we've seen it all and it's becoming almost unmanageable to impress the crowd. The (online) market is oversaturated with copy cats and look-a-likes.
We've created specific criteria and compartmentalised people into boxes with labels, such as the plus-size model, the lifestyle blogger, the natural beauty, the plastic barbie, the hot bodybuilder, or the porn star.
Expectations and requirements are absurdly high and it became standard practice to openly criticise everything and everyone who doesn't follow the rules of a respective box.
Do we really want to live in boxes? I don't think so.
We should seek authenticity and honesty. And look for those who manage to keep it real.
Because nothing is more unique than each and every one of us!
While social networks are full of misleading promises, fake personalities, and artificial lives, the one thing you can truly trust is yourself.
You are the one to stand out.
You are the most important person to believe in yourself. This is what makes you unique.
Because there is no other you!
